Write in Fingilish, Read in Persian!
If you would like to write in Persian, but don't know the Persian keyboard layout, then Tooti Fingilish-Farsi editor is for you!
Many of us, through out school and work tasks and routines, have learned the Latin keyboard and know how to type in English. In last few years, with the popularity of the different Latin based messaging utilities, such as email, instant messaging, SMS, we have also learned to communicate in Persian using "Fingilish".
Recently, with the advances in Unicode standardization, and the support of Farsi Font in the standard, creating documents in Farsi become a reality and very popular in Iran. However, the majorities of us who live aboard, neither have Persian keyboards nor know how to type in Persian. Learning the Persian keyboard layout seems to be a yet another challenge, especially when you don't have time.
Tooti Fingilish-Farsi Editor is an attempt to assist the authors by eliminating the need of a Persian keyboard. In this Editor, you type Fingilish, and the editor translates the word to Farsi in real time. The use of the editor is trivial and doesn't require any training.
How To Use The Editor
After lunching the editor, you simply type the words in Fingilish, in very similar way used in emails or instant messaging. Editor translates the Latin letters to their Farsi equivalents. For instance, the letter "s" and "l" appear as the Farsi Sin ("س") and Laam ("ل"). The combinations such as "sh", "ch" and "gh", are mapped to "ش ", "چ" and "ق". For Farsi Alef ("ا " or "آ "), you can use the letters "aa" or "A". Finally, in the case of Farsi letter with same phonetic, the letter "`" (upper left key on keyboard, next to key "1") is used as toggle switch. For instance, "s" is mapped to "س", and adding a toggle, i.e "s`" would switch it to "ص".
